Yin Yoga

To balance the “yang” side of a busy and rushed lifestyle, Yin Yoga focuses on postures that are held for 3-5 minutes each with the aim of lengthening the deep connective tissues of the body (vs. the superficial tissues) and the fascia that covers the body to increase elasticity, flexibility and mindfulness.

Yin is a more meditative class where the practitioner aims to access the deeper tissues such as the connective tissue and fascia and many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine). As one ages flexibility in the joints decreases and Yin yoga is a wonderful way to maintain that flexibility, something that most people aren't concerned about until they notice it is gone.
